No real
riding to-day. We walked into town during the morning to check out the
secondary vendor stalls in the indoor hall at Fort William, then hit the main
vendors again to ogle the bikes and trikes. The magazines were in the secondary
vendors hall, including Iron Butt. The rally has a comprehensive program guide,
and on reading it through I found that there were a few interesting awards
besides the normal best of etc.. One was for the oldest rider attending; this
guy wins it every year. He is 97 and rides a trike from New Jersey, amazing.
Another was for the longest distance ridden solo to attend. I decided to put my
name in for it. The program guide has a list of all early registrations, and
there was one from California. The awards are at the main bash on Friday night,
and I did get a call asking if I was attending. We had already left by then.
We’ll see I guess.
Update: A few weeks after returning home, I received a package from Americade containing a trophy and gift certificate for a TourMaster jacket. A really nice surprise.

In the
evening we rode the short distance towards Lake Luzerne for the BBQ and Rodeo at
the Painted Pony. We arrived early, but the BBQ was already in full swing, with
a really great spread, and plenty of it. It was then across to the Rodeo arena,
where we were entertained by the resident clown between events such as bronco
and bull riding, as well as the other skill events such as roping. All in all,
a great event.
