Sunday June 2nd - Macedon, NY to Lake George, New York – 242 miles

We left about 8am, taking the back roads to Rome, then heading north east towards the Adirondack Mountains, through Hoffmeister and Speculator. It was light rain when we left, and then became showers until past Rome when the rain settled in. Scenery was mainly hills and trees, and as the rain restricted visibility, instead of heading towards Indian Lake, we cut across to Wevertown and south towards Lake George. It was actually dry and pleasant the last hour until we were about 5 miles from Lake George, when a hose was turned on. It was torrential, and with the wind made for diabolical riding. The worst passed and we arrived at the Balsam Motel, which turned out to be about 20 minutes walk from the village center. That was a bonus at it meant we didn’t have to suit up and deal with parking each time we just went into the village area.

Arriving at the Balsam Motel:

Fort William Henry:

So it was unpack the bikes, hang all the wet gear up to dry, and head into town to check things out and get our bearings. It had stopped raining by then, and cleared up. The main vendor’s exhibition was supposed to be open, but had closed due to the heavy rain. Registration tomorrow and get our package.
