Monday June 3rd – Lake George, NY – at Americade http://www.americade.com/

A nice clear morning, so it was into town fairly early, to check out the vendors before the crowds appeared, and then head for registration (actually to-day was for pre-registered attendees only). The vendors were not open (0900 opening), so we did more exploring and ended up at the Holiday Inn, where registration was to take place, starting at 1100. We lucked in here as all the pieces were in place to start, so we managed to talk our way into getting registered way before time, and headed back out with our all important wrist bands in place. It was back to the vendor area to see what goodies and toys were being offered, plus to get the all important T shirts.

Americade Program details:

Even though bikes were still arriving for the rally, it was striking that a large number of trikes and some sidecars were in attendance. I have noticed the past few years, more and more trikes on road trips, and many with trailers. A large selection of both was being shown by vendors, and it is obviously a trend that will continue to grow. Gold Wings and Harley Ultra Classics were the main bikes for the trike kits. I have attached a few examples we saw. Most of the wares being shown were standard rally offerings.

Some bikes seen around and with the vendors:

The usual contingent of bike manufacturers offering test rides for all their models were in attendance, led by Harley with 3 massive tractor/trailer  rigs, Honda, and Yamaha.

That evening was the opening ceremony, held in a big top erected in the grounds of Fort William Henry, the rally headquarters. Live music, juggling and comedy acts, and speeches were the fare, plus dessert and coffee.

So tomorrow is the official opening day for the rally. As we are already checked in, we are good to go.
