Saturday July 24th 2010 in Whitehorse

The day started off very wet, rain. It is supposed to clear up later. Thinking about my dilemma, I decided that as the ferry I was due to catch originated at Skagway, and only 90 odd miles from Whitehorse, why not change my itinerary and see if I can book from there. I managed to contact the Alaskan Ferry office in Skagway, and have done just that. I feel more comfortable riding just 110 miles as opposed to 250, plus the road to Skagway is more heavily travelled, day trips run from Whitehorse. Also no need to stop to gas up.
A few riders were staying at the same hotel as I, and I felt a tinge of envy as they all set off north.

So the status is my stator is suspected of being on the way out. The mechanic has done what he can without the required parts (it is a small dealership), which would take days to come from Calgary. The electrical loading has been reduced, and I do have a small charge. So I will pick the bike up this afternoon, and then head to Skagway tomorrow morning. I booked a room there for tomorrow night at the Sgt. Preston Lodge.
Once I have picked up the bike, as it is turning out a nice day, I’ll do some more exploring, sans bike. It will stay parked until I leave to save the battery.
