Friday July 9th 2010 – getting ready to leave Mississauga

Well my time in Ontario is coming to an end, so I am starting to get ready to head west. I have spent over 3 weeks here, staying with family and friends, having a great time. A few rounds of golf, watching many soccer games, the beach (although Lake Ontario was freezing), the Tall Ships, and acting as chariot driver to my two granddaughters, who love to ride, even on highway 401. Speaking of the chariot, it has been serviced, washed and detailed, and is ready to hit the road again.

The plan is to leave next Monday July 12th, cross into the US at Sarnia, then head for Montana before crossing into Alberta and stopping in Hanna for a couple of days to visit my son and his family. Then it is onto Alaska. I have two options here, heading directly to Haines and the ferry back to Bellingham, or loop through Fairbanks, Anchorage then Haines. It depends upon a few things, mainly when I actually leave Hanna, and weather and road conditions. As the primary purpose of this particular part of my trip is to catch the ferry on July 26th ( I have already booked the passage), I have a date to be aware of. Having done the Alaska cruise, and visited the State a few times on business, I can leave the ride to Fairbanks for another day if needed.
