Road Trip 2012
So it is
that time of the year again. One has to have a road trip fix to settle the
inner person, and see the US as it really is instead of through the media
garbage.
So as
before, the ultimate destination is family and friends in Ontario, this year
taking in a few more un-ridden States like Delaware and Rhode Island. I only recently
decided to hit all 50 States, a pity as I could have covered many more when
riding the 4 Corners a couple of years ago. No matter, they will be done this
year leaving just Hawaii to go. That is a good excuse to travel there and rent
a bike, as well as play golf.
I hope
to ride the Blue Ridge Parkway and Civil War sites on the way home. That was a
plan 2 years ago, but due to a schedule change never happened. Hopefully this
year will the year.
My rough
route is below (courtesy of Streets and Trips). Subject to change as normal, especially on the return trip. I will visit
Bonneville Flats on the way out, clipping Nevada to do that. One thing I have
to watch out for this time of the year is thunderstorms. So the outbound time frame is flexible.
